Pauline Burton teaches English at the Division of Language Studies, City University of Hong Kong where she has lived since 1985. She has performed in several plays on stage and radio, and in poetry recitals both at the opening of the Kwai Tsing Theatre in Hong Kong, and at the Hong Kong Fringe Club. She was co-presenter of "Poetry on Air" on RTHK Radio 4, with Dino Mahoney, and played Anna Akhmatova in a short film in Dino's "World Poets" series, filmed in 2001 on location in St Petersburg. She has participated in the Hong Kong International Literary Festival each year as a reader, panelist, and co-organizer of poetry events.

Pauline's teaching interests are in poetry, drama, and performance skills, teaching language through literature, and intercultural communication. She has just completed work on a Government-funded research programme on teaching language through literature in Hong Kong secondary schools, and is currently organizing and teaching secondary school workshops in Hong Kong with the teaching material produced in this project - notably, short poetry videos (PTV) created by Dino Mahoney.
